Where can I find a quiet place to study in the library?

Answer

Each area of the library has noise zoning. If you have a noise complaint, you can try talking to other users or stop by the front desk for assistance.

  • Floor 3 -- Silent; 3 graduate study rooms and small study spots on the outskirts of the book stacks.
  • Floors 2M and 1M -- Mix of Collaborative and Quiet; study rooms and quiet study desks against the east wall in the book/journal stacks, and large group tables around the mezzanine
  • Floor 2 -- Collaborative; large group tables, tutoring and teaching spaces, coffee shop
  • Floor 1 -- Collaborative; classrooms, large map tables, some quiet areas by the journals

You can reserve a study room--they may not block out all noise but do cut down on distractions. We also have some noise-canceling headphones available for checkout at the front desk in our Gadget to Go collection. There is also a Reflection Room on the 1st floor by the Studio that is a quiet space for prayer, meditation, introspection, mindfulness moments, etc.
